Our Story
Pineapple Press is a small publishing company that was founded by Molly A. Minnick in 1990 in order to publish the first edition of A Time to Decide, A Time to Heal. This book was co-authored by Kathleen Delp and reflects the long-standing work that Molly and Kathy have done with bereaved parents. As Genetic Social Workers at Michigan State University, Molly and Kathy founded and co-facilitated one of the first support groups for parents who had terminated wanted pregnancies after prenatal diagnosis revealed a serious or lethal anomaly. During the course of this on-going support group, parents frequently discussed the need for resources for parents who received this devastating news after prenatal diagnosis.
Molly and Kathy helped this group of parents write just such a resource. When it came time to publish A Time to Decide, A Time to Heal, they decided to do so themselves and Pineapple Press was established as a publishing company. Since that time, there have been nine additional printings of this valuable resource. Currently, there are a total of 78,000 copies in print. Recently an abridged version was translated into Spanish and is now available to Spanish speaking parents.
